Based
on crew availability, Cornell EMS will standby at any event on the Cornell University
campus or surrounding Cornell-owned properties. Such events include sporting
events, concerts, university functions and outside functions that occur on Cornell
property. Unfortunately at this time we cannot provide coverage to events not
on Cornell property.
At this time Cornell EMS provides two event coverage services as described
below:
Paid Service
Cornell EMS will provide dedicated crews to an event for a donation of
$30 per crew per hour. These crews will be attached to the specified event and
will not leave at any time. Should a patient need to be transported to a health
care facility, Cornell EMS crews will contact the proper agencies.
Cornell EMS will bill for scheduled time or actual
time, whichever is longer. As a 100% volunteer service that provides medical care free of charge to the patient, these proceeds will be used
for general squad expenses, including replacing supplies used at the event;
none of our members will be paid for working at the event.
Free Service
We provide a free-of-charge service where the Cornell EMS Duty Crew will
occasionally stop by an event.
However the crew is not restricted to staying at the event and may have to leave to conduct squad
business or respond to 911 calls elsewhere on the Cornell campus. Should an injury occur while the crew is not on location,
dial 911 or (607)255-1111 for Cornell Police and the EMS Duty Crew
will respond within a couple of minutes. Although the service is free,
CUEMS personnel are more readily
accessible at an event if they are a dedicated crew (paid service).
To request a Cornell EMS crew for an event, please contact the
Cornell EMS Director
. Please include information about the nature of the event, date and
time of the event as well as expected number of attendees. Cornell EMS will determine
the number of crews needed based on crew availability and consultation with Cornell
Police and Cornell Environmental Health and Safety. Bangs Ambulance also provides
