Cornell University Emergency Medical Service
Surrounding Agencies

AgenciesCornell EMS works very closely with a number of surrounding agencies on a regular basis. We frequently enjoy the assistance of Cornell Police, Cornell Environmental Health and Safety, Ithaca Fire Department and Cayuga Heights Fire Department on a number of our 911 calls. Since Cornell EMS primarily does quick-response service to 911 calls in our district, our patients can be transported to either Cayuga Medical Center or Gannett Health Center by Bangs Ambulance, who is also the area's Advanced Life Support provider. Cornell EMS also shares a small portion of its response district with Lansing Fire Department and Dryden Ambulance. For critical patients requiring immediate medical attention by a trauma center, Cornell EMS has a number of air medical programs at its disposal, based on flight conditions and availability. These include Mercy Flight Central 1, 2 and 3 (Marcellus, NY and Canandaigua, NY), NYS Police Lifeguard 16 (Syracuse, NY) and Guthrie Air (Sayre, PA).
