Cornell EMS is dedicated to providing educational seminars and programs to the Cornell community and the greater Ithaca area. We offer a wide range of classes through the American Heart Association including First Aid and CPR/AED courses, and we also conduct other safety courses about Alcohol Awareness and Bike Safety.
In the past year, we taught 36 CPR/AED and First Aid classes and 12 Alcohol Awareness classes. We participated in the Resident Advisor Training Panel, in addition to teaching an orientation seminar titled “Blood, Booze, and Band-Aids.” In the Spring, we contributed to the A.D. White Greek Leadership Conference by giving a presentation about Alcohol Education, and we hosted two American Red Cross Blood Drives on campus.
Each year in November, we participate in National Collegiate EMS Week, by hosting our own celebration of EMS-related events. In the span of one event-packed week, we held events about the Good Samaritan Law on campus, hosted a blood drive, organized 5 CPR classes on National CPR Day, held a vehicle exposé with our response vehicles and also other vehicles from additional county agencies, and also our annual flu-prevention campaign, “Got Soap?”.
Cornell EMS also provides members of the Cornell Community with a variety of safety pamplets and flyers for tips in situations such as Bicycle Safety, Hand Hygeine and Alcohol Safety. Some of these pampletes are found below:
